New Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trailer Confirmed For TGS 2019

Square Enix‘s Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed on Twitter that the developer will be lifting the wraps off a new Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer at the Tokyo Game Show 2019. The news comes following the 22nd anniversary of the original Final Fantasy 7 in North America, where it recreated an iconic render of Cloud approaching Shinra HQ.

Check out Nomura-san’s Tweet below.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake – or rather, the first part of it – will launch on PS4 on March 3, 2020. Right now we don’t know how many episodes the project will consist of, but Square Enix has said that development of future instalments in the game will be more efficient as a result of its work to date.

The first part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake will take place entirely in Midgar, although that doesn’t mean it’ll be a short affair. The game ships on two Blu-ray discs, and Square Enix has said it will dive further into the lives of the city’s residents.

The company has also heavily suggested that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will eventually come to the PS5 at some point, too.

Here’s the full blurb on Final Fantasy 7 Remake:

The world has fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation controlling the planet’s very life force as mako energy. In the sprawling city of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their resistance. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the group, unaware of the epic consequences that await him.

The original PSOne release of Final Fantasy 7 hit stores in 1997, and was responsible for bringing the franchise to a wider audience, particularly in western markets. It was a huge success too, selling over 11 million copies worldwide and spawning a CG movie and spin-off titles.
