PC Games That Need To Be On PS4 (Stat)

PC Games On PS4

While the PS4 certainly has no shortage of great exclusives and intriguing indie games, there are still a great many titles that should be on Sony’s current-gen console but aren’t.

Most of these awesome games happen to be PC bound as it turns out – and so, in the grand tradition of whining into the void in the hope that something might happen, we’ve got a bunch of PC games that we’re super thirsty for on PS4.

Hades

The latest effort from Pyre and Transistor developer Supergiant Games, Hades is a hack and slash effort in the style of Blizzard’s Diablo that casts you as a warrior that must stab and murder their way out of the mythological Greek Underworld en route to confrontation with the titular naughty god himself.

Absolutely drenched in Supergiant’s trademark artistic style and generously stuffed with a bounty of beautifully drawn and animated foes to kill and loot to nab, Supergiant’s isometric slasher is looking stupendous even though it’s still in early access. And look, all of Supergiant’s other games eventually made it to PS4 in the end, so why not Hades eh?

Hell Let Loose

Contrary to popular belief, I still believe that there is a fistful of stuff that can be done with the historical setting of World War II. Clearly Black Matter, the developers behind Hell Let Loose think that too because with its latest game the plucky indie developer has crafted something quite intriguing. Still in early access, Hell Let Loose is an FPS that supports 100 player battles with a dynamically shifting front as players employ vehicles, artillery and complex battlefield tactics to win the day.

More than just a embellished version of the zone capture game type seen in other genre efforts, capturing each sector provides crucial resources that will allow you to drive the battle onward with fresh vehicles, ammunition and more. Oh, and Hell Let Loose also boasts 14 different classes and maps that are based upon on real reconnaissance images and satellite data too. All of that sounds great, quite honestly.

Mordhau

A superbly brutal online multiplayer slasher where the goal is to go full Red Wedding on as many hostile dudes as possible, it’s perhaps unsurprising to discover that Mordhau has garnered quite the rabid following.

There’s a fair bit of skill required by the whole enterprise too, as a sophisticated strike, parry and block system is in place that makes each fight a test of skill, while cavalry charges, castle sieges, furious desert skirmishes all add a hefty dose of variety to the proceedings. Did I mention that the game is horrifically, laugh-out-loud violent too? No? Because you can full on lop off dudes heads, cleave them off their horses and carve their innards up like a bunch of bloody noodles. Happy days.

Outer Wilds

Now we’re talking. A massive open-world (open-solar system?) exploration effort, Outer Wilds has players exploring an ever changing solar system that has found itself trapped in a time loop. In order to break this unfortunate set of cosmic circumstances, you must land on each planet and discover its secrets; venturing into dangerous caves, uncovering clues and translating ancient alien dialects.

The kicker to all this however, and this is where all that time loop business comes in, is that each planet in the solar system is continually changing. One planet might have dramatically rising sea levels which threaten to devour a range of highly useful artifacts, while another might be destroyed by an incoming asteroid; preventing you from plumbing the depths of its secrets if you don’t get there in time. Think, No Man’s Sky meets Groundhog Day with a dash of Majora’s Mask and you’re basically there.

What’s not to like?

Phoenix Point

From the dude who created XCOM back in the day, Phoenix Point follows a similar premise. Featuring both turn-based tactical battles and macro world strategy against an alien invasion, Phoenix Point changes things up by introducing the Pandoravirus – a mutagen that can mutate enemies in a variety of fresh and unexpected ways each time you face them.

Throw in some highly detailed visuals, a campaign that stretches into hundreds of hours in length and some of the best turn-based combat anywhere and Phoenix Point would certainly seem to be a must-have title for PS4 gamers everywhere. They just need to develop/release the ruddy thing first.

SCUM

A story-driven, third-person survival title, SCUM has players creating their own convict who must then survive in the wilds whilst also putting their convict friends into the ground wherever possible. A hugely detailed effort underpinned by a number of in-depth systems, SCUM boasts everything from minutely detailed physics (wet clothes will dry at independent speeds on your skin depending on the time of day), to metabolism and an in-depth, skill-based melee combat system

Equally, as serious as SCUM might seem, it’s also pretty much off its face too – allowing players to get hopped up on all kinds of narcotics (both natural and man-made), as they run around naked punching the crap out of each other. Sounds like fun to us.

Void Bastards

Ah, Void Bastards. With the likes of Bioshock and System Shock serving as its inspirations, Void Bastards is a tactical, comic book styled FPS that has you leading a bunch of space prisoners (the titular Void Bastards) through a mysterious nebula strewn with derelict ships and abandoned stations.

The thing is, each prisoner not only has their own unique set of skills and traits, but each mission must be planned in advance as there are multiple ways to complete each scenario. Do you stealthily sneak around a hostile ship, avoiding combat in an attempt to subvert the systems, or, do you simply go FULL BASTARD and start killing folks willy nilly? The choice is yours.
