R-Type Final 2 monthly development report: September 2019

Granzella has published the September 2019 edition of its series of monthly development reports for R-Type Final 2, which is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC with an estimated release window of December 2020.

Get the full report below.

The following information has been updated for September 2019.

  1. We’ve created the trial play version of the game, and we’ll be running a booth at Tokyo Game Show 2019
  2. Development status update
  3. The questionnaire report #2 on R-Type Delta (Delta) remake stages
  4. The cover image of the month and the next update / event information

We’ve created the trial play version of the game, and we’ll be running a booth at Tokyo Game Show 2019.

Thank you so much for your support for our crowdfunding campaign. We are sorry for the delay in updating the monthly development report.

Since we will be running a booth at Tokyo Game Show 2019, which will be held from September 12 to 15, 2019, we would like to update the development status together with the information about our exhibition. Sorry again that this announcement came late. At Tokyo Game Show 2019, we plan to exhibit the trial play version of R-Type Final 2. We would be very happy if you could stop by our booth there.

Once again, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the backers for giving us the opportunity to create R-Type Final 2.

Development Status: Design of basic system and production of fighters

In July and August, we continued to design the basic system and create the fighters. It is expected to be the end of autumn until we finish incorporating the basic rule of R-Type.

We advanced the production of the following player fighters.

The basic elements of R-Type are now playable to a certain extent. Special weapons have not been installed yet. Also, we have been creating R-Type Final 2‘s unique elements separately so the trial play version does not include them.

The mere basic functions of R-Type generate a lot of tactical features. We take our hats off to by the depth of the basic rules of R-Type created by our predecessors.

Remake Stages of R-Type Delta

Here is the result of the questionnaire survey conducted to ask about your desired remake stages of R-Type Delta, which was the stretch goal for USD $800,000:

1Stage 6: Awakening20.9%
2Stage 1: Lethal Weapon18.4%
3Stage 4: Invasion16.0%
4Stage 5: Evil12.1%
5Stage 3: Gigantic Attack11.7%
6 11.2%
7Stage 2: Deformation9.7%

Each stage received many votes, and it was a close vote. Thank you so much for participating in the survey.

By taking the balance with other remake stages into account, we will reproduce one of the upper ranking stages in the above questionnaire with the latest technology and include it as an additional stage. We will let you know as soon as the stage is confirmed, so please be patient for a little while.

Cover Image of the Month

R-Type Final 2

The cover image of this month is RX-10 Albatross, a special force test craft that travels through the enemy base. “RX” is a code attached to a test craft that won’t be deployed in the field, but in R-Type Delta, even the experimental craft was forced into service to deal with the crisis on earth.

Next Update / Event Information

We are planning to exhibit a trial play version of R-Type Final 2 at Tokyo Game Show 2019, which will be held at Makuhari Messe from September 12 to 15, 2019. The trial play version will be exhibited at Granzella booth (4-S01) and Hapinet booth (3-C06). Please stop by and play the game when you come to Tokyo Game Show 2019.

Also, we plan to release the trial play video after the event so that those who could not come to the Tokyo Game Show will be able to see the trial play version of the game.

On the next progress update, we would like to have an opportunity to hear your feedback and requests about the trial version.

We look forward to your continued support for R-Type Final 2.
