The Last Of Us: Part 2 Confirmed For Next Week’s State Of Play

The Last of Us: Part 2 developer Naughty Dog has confirmed via a new Twitter post that the highly anticipated sequel will be showcased during Sony’s next State of Play event. As previously reported, the broadcast will take place on September 24 and will last around 20 minutes. It’s not a big shocker, as this is also the same day that The Last of Us: Part 2’s media showcase is happening.

The Last Of Us: Part 2 For Next State Of Play

Naughty Dog’s teaser is pretty basic, depicting a small dagger and the words ‘I’m gonna find…and I’m gonna kill…every last one of them.’ If you recall, this mirrors Ellie’s words during the first trailer for The Last of Us: Part 2 while talking to Joel.

The Last of Us: Part 2 has yet to attract a release date, but it is widely believed the game will launch in early 2020. The sequel takes place five years after the events of the original game, and sees Ellie, now 19-years-old, taking centre stage as the main protagonist.

In addition to the campaign, The Last of Us Part 2 will also see the return of the Factions multiplayer, although we haven’t seen it in action yet.

Interestingly, we haven’t really seen much of anything on Joel yet either, save for that brief glimpse during the teaser trailer. Hopefully Naughty Dog will cobble together a new trailer offering more footage of the Troy Baker-voiced hero in action soon enough.

The Last of Us: Part 2 is one of the last major exclusives for PS4, with Sony eventually turning its attention to the PS5. However, we firmly expect the game to end up being released for that console too, much like the original game was ported to PS4 a year after its release.

Speaking of which, why not have a gander at our review of The Last of Us: Remastered if you’re wondering what all the fuss is about?
