Fortnite’s next season will arrive soon and it appears to be rebranding the game as Fortnite: Chapter 2 and introduce a new map.
The news comes from Eurogamer who picked up on numerous fans tweeting and sharing a leaked piece of art from the Italian iOS App Store. That new piece of art showcases what appears to be a new map and the aforementioned name “Fortnite Chapter 2.” “Capitolo” is Italian for “chapter”.
You can take a look at the piece of art below:
The artwork showcases some basic looking Fortnite characters in simplistic clothing and carrying similarly simplistic weapons. The background also showcases a river with some speedboats, suggesting the game will get its first aquatic vehicle. However, the map also has some features currently present in the existing map. Therefore, Epic may be radically changing the map, but keeping some key locations.
We will find out what this new map and Fortnite: Chapter 2 are all about on October 13. A special in-game event titled “The End” is set to begin at 12 PM PST/2 PM EST/7 PM BST. This event will take place right before Epic pushes the latest patch for the game, updating the Season and transitioning Fortnite into its next era.
Season X is currently taking place in Fortnite and it has been one of the more controversial seasons, with Mechs and new features added that fans didn’t particularly like. However, for those looking for a purer Fortnite experience, Fortnite Chapter 2 looks to be taking the game back to its routes and simplifying the gameplay.
This is a smart move by Epic as it will bring in the section of players that abandoned the game after its first few seasons and moved onto to simpler Battle Royale games.
Fortnite Chapter 2 is expected to launch this weekend, alongside a new Battle Pass.
