Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Plans Have Been Influenced By The Witcher 3

The developer behind the hugely anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 has revealed that the game’s DLC strategy has been directly influenced by The Witcher 3s post-launch slate.

Speaking with Video Games Chronicle at the Tokyo Game Show 2019, CD Projekt RED’s Max Pears revealed the studio has ‘learnt a lot’ from the fantasy-RPG, and will be applying that knowledge to its DLC plans for Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Strategy Takes Influence From The Witcher 3

We’ve learnt a lot from Witcher 3 and how that DLC worked. We’ve learnt from that and that is the strategy for how we’ll apply DLC to Cyberpunk as well. We’ll look to take what we’ve learnt from Witcher 3 and apply that.

With Witcher 3 the game got better with quality of life updates for the community as well, like how we improved the UI and things like that.

CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the game’s post-launch slate will feature a multiplayer mode, with the studio recently explaining why it decided to wait to release the feature after launch. Cyberpunk 2077 includes a heavy emphasis on first-person view, a decision CD Projekt RED feels is the best choice for the project.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be published by Bandai Namco Games for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on April 16, 2020. CD Projekt RED is adopting a ‘dual-franchise‘ model going forward, where it aims to juggle new entries in both the Cyberpunk and Witcher series.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games on current-generation consoles, but there’s been murmurs that the game may end up coming to the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett at some point.

Keanu Reeves of The Matrix and John Wick fame will be featured in a major role in the game, and fans were so taken by his appearance at E3 2019 that they have campaigned to get his ‘you’re breathtaking‘ moment immortalised in the title as an unlockable Achievement/Trophy.
